I guess I sent a confusing email; I am still in the process of proving my ancestor; supposedly he did civil service during REV WAR, but having a hard time proving that fact. I did find the info in a book on the approved list of the DAR, but a researcher still isn't satisfied with what I have. If anyone is interested, please let me know, and I will give more detail. Another way, he can become a Patriot is by showing he made an 'oath of allegiance' in 1776. The state he was from is New Jersey.
