I am sorry to inform you that the NSDAR Patriot index does not include members lineage. Just the patriot they were admitted to. I looked in the NSDAR Patriot Index for John ONeill and found the following information:

O'NEAL, John
Birth: VA Circa 1745
Service: SC
Rank: Cmsry
Death: GA 15 Dec 1819
Patriot Pensioned: No Widow Pensioned: No
Children Pensioned: No Heirs Pensioned: No
Spouse: (1)Mrs Ursula McIntosh

Is this the gentleman you are looking for? Since someone has established membership in the NSDAR through him, you may obtain a copy of the DAR application by sending a check for $10.00 payable to Treasurer General NSDAR. Provide the patriot information and if you know the child of the Patriot through whom descent is claimed, provide that also. Mail the check along with the information to:

Record Copy Department
Registrar General NSDAR
Administration Building
1776 D Street NW
Washington, DC 20006-5303.

Requests for record copies may take six to eight weeks as they are very busy.
