Thank you for the inquiry. First of all are you sure that your ancestor has not been proven to the DAR ????
Also, if he is a new ancestor then you must also prove that he was a resident in the area. You can do this by tax records, or by church records. To be a proven ancestor one did not have to have Military Service. Civil Service, Patriotic Service, and Signers of the Declaration of Independence also qualifies.
