There are four John Hathaway's in the DAR Patriot Index. None were born in NC or died there. They all were, in fact, from MA and died there. There were two David's, both born in MA, with one passing in MA and the other in NJ. The four women who joined on the MA/MA David, joined through a son named David. The MA/NJ David only had one applicant and she joined through a daughter, Catherine.

All this means is that to date, no woman has joined DAR on the line you seek. Perhaps continued searching will find your John and brother David.
