That's wonderful Richard! I will look forward to the feature!
I do have a question regarding the 1930 census listing for St. Joseph's (I've not see the census for St. Joseph's for any other year). I am not Catholic and therefore this question is based in probable ignorance.
As I read the listing I was intrigued that there were 14 officers for the 26 boys and they all came from Germany for the most part and ranged between the ages of 22 and 45. Was this the norm for early day Catholic orphanages?
The reason I ask is that a large part of my historical research here at home is in the area of Indian boarding schools, not only government (we only had one here) but also the Jesuit run boarding schools for Indian children which were subsidized by the federal government. I find in the censuses there were often laypeople listed as teachers, general laborers, cooks, etc. but seldom as "officers". Any insights on this would be much appreciated. Those insights will help me see my own research in a new light.
Thanks again for all your help. No hurry in answering this - you have plenty else to do.
