Interested in original query. Where is the connection between Keohane and the Hurley surname which is listed in description, but not in the message? Any connection to RI-born entertainer George M Cohan?
My grandmother, Margaret Mahoney(1879 Co Cork-1955WI), said she was George M's cousin, but we don't know how. Some of her siblings were born in Inchigeelagh, Co. Cork, and some in the Glengarriff Registration District, maybe Bantry. Her parents were Cornelius and Margaret(Regan)Mahoney. Family emigrated in 1880's to northern IL, where they lived with or near Hurley or Cronin relatives, got RR jobs, then moved to WI.
Her grandparents (who probably d in IRE) were James and Kate/Catherine(Hurley) Mahoney and Daniel?(not positive) and Mary(Scott) Regan. Cornelius Mahoney had a brother, John, who apparently emigrated to Philadelphia, where one of his descendants married an O'Connell. Another descendant of John's may qualify for the Black Sheep Society.
Willing to exchange information. Thanks for any advice.
