Hi there,
I am wondering if anyone has come across (or is a descendent of) this convict couple who married in 1836 in Hinton. I am a descendent via their daughter Sarah. Peter came out on the Speke in 1826 and was transported to New South Wales for burglary (according to nationalarchives.gov.uk website - Lancashire records office). Eliza was from Dublin and was transported out on the Andromeda in 1834 for pick pocketing. I have got some info from the "free settler or felon" website as well as some interesting snippets about them from the NLA newspaper beta website (Eliza appears to have been quite a troubled/some lady). It appears that Byron/Byrom may have been used a little interchangeably. I am keen to find out more about my convict ancestors!
cheers
Mike
