I have been doing some further research into Ann Callaby/ Irwin/Irvine and her arrival into Sydney. She is my g-g-g grandmother. An Ann Irwin arrived in Australia on the Adam Lodge in 1837. The ship sailed out of Londonderry. Further research I have done has revealed that according to the official Co. Tyrone Website's genealogy records, this Ann Irwin was married to another passenger on board - James Irwin. According to Ozships, this James Irwin died at sea in May 1837 due to complications associated with lack of proper nutrients in his diet. Therefore, if all this is true, it is likely that she came from Co. Tyrone and she re-married Richard Callaby in Sydney. I have a marriage record with scant information on it, but Ann is listed as being a spinster, not a widow.

Anne's death certificate has her death happening in Sydney. It would appear that she moved to Sydney before Richard Callaby died in Singleton. I think she ran some boarding houses in Sydney as a Mrs Callaby advertised her Sydney boarding houses in the Maitland newspaper at the time.

Another interesting thing is that the Ann Irwin listed on the Adam Lodge was a protestant. However, Ann Callaby is buried in a Catholic cemetry in Sydney.

In relation to Richard's arrival in Sydney, the details of wich still remain a mystery, according to his death certificate, he arrived here the same year as Ann - possibly as a crew member?

Just wondering if anyone has come across any of this and/or has any thoughts/answers to any of it?
