I am also a descendant of Frederick William Mears and Sarah Ann Johnson(Johnston). My father's cousins has just given me a text file covering the Mears family including the Hornblower line. Some of the Details are
Frederick William MEARS (Frederick George, Edward M, Edward) was born on 7 Aug 1813 in Bermondsey, London, England. He was christened 33 on 10 Jul 1814 in Saint Mary Magdalene, Bermondsey, London, England. He died on 12 Dec 1880 in Oakhampton, Maitland, NSW. He was buried in Methodist Section, Oakhampton Cemetery.

Frederick was employed as a postman in Maitland in 1842. He was employed as fellmonger in Maitland.

Frederick Mears of West Maitland witnessed the wedding on 26 July 1858 of William London and
Elizabeth Jane Mears (she is sometimes noted as Eliza Jane, sometimes as Elizabeth Jane). - my great, great grand parents.

Frederick married Sarah Ann JOHNSON daughter of William JOHNSON and Elizabeth ALLEN on 25 Sep 1833 in St Alphage, Greenwich, England. Sarah was christened on 6 Nov 1816 in Saint Anne Soho, Westminster, London, England . She died on 4 May 1874 in Oakhampton, Maitland, NSW. She was buried on 5 May 1874 in Methodist Section, Oakhampton Cemetry.

Eliza married39 Edward KEARNS about 1871 in Maitland, NSW.

9. Henry Johnson Walter MEARS was born about 1849.
