For 20 years Olive's back has been so bent with rheumatism that she can only walk with a cane and can stand erect only when supported. Still at 76, without one convenience, this frail, stooped little woman cares for her home and brother in a most amazing manner. There is a cow to be milked, chickens to be fed, besides three meals to prepare, and washing, ironing and sewing to do. In this primitive house the work is tedious, yet Olive Clarkson has a beautiful face not tired-looking as one might imagine, but sparkling as she smiles, with clear blue eyes that betray her saving sense of humor. Her fingers, too, are stiff, and the handwork she enjoyed doing in her younger days she has had to give up.
