Great Grandfather's 2nd In-laws

I'm not sure if this is the exact board for a question like this, but its close enough. I have been having a debate with myself about who to include and exclude from my tree. I'll make this as brief as possible, but still include pertinent information.

My great grandfather was married twice. His first wife gave birth to my grandfather and died a few months later. My great grandfather remarried and they had 4 more kids together. I naturally included the second wife and her parents and siblings as they had a place in the lives of my actual ancestors. What I learned about them also helped me locate my great grandfathers parents and siblings and piece together how my great grandfather and his second wife might have met.

Now comes the question. Is there ANY reason to continue researching that family, either back or forward? I don't see any. I'm not out to be a name collector and add people to my tree just to make it bigger. Is my reasoning sound or am I missing something?
