Deceased Name: William A. Tweedy
Kenai resident William "Bill" A. Tweedy, 72, died at his home on Nov. 12, 2001, of natural causes.
Bill was born March 29, 1929, in Lynchburg, Va. He completed high school and served his country in both the Army and Navy.
He moved to Alaska in 1948 and lived in Fairbanks for 51 years and Kenai for the last two years.
Bill was a carpenter and taxicab driver until he retired in 1997. He was a member of the Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, woodworking and archery.
His wife stated that he was a "kind, considerate and wonderful husband."
He is survived by his wife Melba of Kenai; daughter Valerie Troutman; niece Frances Wooden; and nephew Clifton Tweedy Jr.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations are encouraged to the Melba Tweedy Memorial Fund, at the Kenai, Alaska USA Bank.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16, at Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
