We have a family crest (Surname - Prest) that has been passed down over the years.
Sadly both my father and his father died quite young and didn't pass down any information about the family (my father knew very little). I'm now slowly starting to piece things together, however the origin of the crest is still something of a mystery.
My father had a photocopied sheet of paper, which looks like it came from a book, which states the crest was granted to an Edward Prest of York in 1823. I'm struggling to find who this Edward was, and where he fits within the family.
I have no idea where my fathers photocopied sheet comes from either! Does anybody know where there might be further records and details of who registered a crest in the 1800's?
