I am going to write this just as I have it from a grandaughter of Ella Bowman
What Ella (Showalter) Bowman wrote about Floyd County.
There was a communion at Stonewall when I first remember going to Grandma's
when I was just little and even after I was grown and married, also had
regular meetings as long as Uncle Jim Hoback (James) lived; was a bro. to
Grandma Hoback Vest Yeats and Maggie Mothers father; David's grandfather. I
was with my father,Eld. Jacob Showalter, up there 5 falls straight to
communion there after I was grown and a member, rode in a horse and buggy.
There were several members lived there, Isaac Wimmer and daughters and
Isaac's wife. It was really enjoyable. My mother usually went and spent a wk.
during the summer. Some came up from Franklin for the meetings. My mother
came down to near our church to work before she and my father were married;
before the divide in the church. Mother would go up and spend a wk. during
the summer. After I was older I remember we'd all go for a few days now and
then. Going to grandmas was always a big treat for us and we loved each other
as dearly as could have any Grandmother. It was always a happy time whenever
we went to Grandmas. Charles Vest was her first husband. I only remember
Calvin Yeats. Grandma raised my mother from a little girl up.They belonged
to the Church of the Brethren, that didn't make any difference in their love
for us or ours for them. Uncle Jim's Uncle Willis and Aunt Cynthias were
always glad to have us come too, also the neighbors. When I was 19 years old I
spent a month up there and enjoyed it to the fullest. Sharon Yeats and I rode
horseback to the church.I will never forget going to my Grandmas. There wasn't
any members up there and her death may not have been in the Vindicator. We
aleays kept in touch with each othe rby letter when didn't go up.Uncle Jim
Hoback and Isaac Wimmer were members,Elders. The older ones died and none
coming to keep it up. Ella had written 2 different papers and and I tried to
get it all in one. I looked in the dictionary to see how it spelled Cynthias
a Artemis; hence, the moon personified. Evelyn and I each have a pair of
gloves that Grandma knit after she could hardly see to even write, from white
thread. All of us loved to go up whenever there was a chance and loved all of
them I used to go with Robert (Bob) and Mae (Stoutmire) Vest every once in a
while.

Amanda Elizabeth Worley, sister to Uncle Sam Worley.
The Church Building she is speaking about is still standing, on Rt 221 at
Stonewall, but I don't know if they still have service there or not.
