Hello. I found this short post about Marie Laveau awesome and exciting. i have long found her life and history fasinating, especially ( I am of Choctaw ancestry, resideing in the Choctaw nation of Oklahoma) since there have been stories handed down that she was part Choctaw and one of the names mentioned in her alleged Choctaw ancestry was Choctaw, which is where my choctaw lineage is derived from. Do you have further information regarding her ancestry. You mentioned a story or legend that she never died but changed into a crow. Would this be along the shape shifter stories? My grandmother told me a story years ago about an "old" Choctaw woman that could change herself into an owl, etc, I still remember after 45 years the fear in instilled in me and my cousin, listening to theses stories on stormy nights where we would gather in dug-out storm shelters and listen to our grandparents tell theses stories. Of course at the time i didn't identify this story with that od shape shifters/ I would like to hear form you. please email me at : bluebird@crosstel.net
