I too had been looking for the poem Winnipeg at Christmas & was thrilled to find it on the ancestry site! I have remembered some of it for over 40 years, particularly the part:
Queen Victoria in her chair.
My recollection however of the next line is:
Has snow upon her stony hair
This is in reference to the fact that the poet is describing a landmark statue of Queen Victoria which sits on the grounds at the Provincial Legislative Building in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
A small detail perhaps, but one which I think provides a beautiful picture in the minds eye!
