Yeah, I have heard of that tradition, but my family only does that for a new house, and it has pretty much died now! When my mom first went to my dad's for Christmas dinner (her first Ukie style), she was astonished. She had just finished helping them paint the vaulted beamed ceilings which were a lot of work to paint. Dinner came around, and they got to the kutya part, and my Didy took a huge spoonful of the stuff and just catapulted it to the freshly painted ceiling! She just sat there waiting for my Baba to go crazy and was dumbfounded when everyone was excited that it stuck!!!
