William was born to James (Oo-wuh-gah) Matoy b abt 1798 and Mary "Polly" Traylor b abt 1786 in Wilkes co. Ga. William moved to NC and was a confederate soldier NC Infantry Regiment, Thomas Legion Company 2A, ranked Private. William is buried in Indianola cemetary, Delaware county, OK d 1900.
