A group of International Family Researchers are trying to establish the family line of Humphrey Belt [b. ca.1615, England, d. aft 1663 Maryland USA]. Common belief is that he was the son of Sir Robert Belt [b. 22 Feb 1575/76, St Crux York; d. 04 Sep 1656, Flaxton YNR] and Grace Foxcroft. This has been proven incorrect along with others as to the name/s of his parents. We however do believe Humphrey is some how connect to Sir Roberts line but not directly. In an effort to find out who Humphrey's parents were, a Belt DNA project has been started. This is being done through, Family Tree DNA. A number of Humphrey's descendants have undergone the DNA test but we have no male descendant from Sir Roberts Belts line to take the test.
