As a result of recent Y-DNA analysis it now seems that the Virginia Bracey line originating with the patriarch William Bressie of Isle of Wight County is associated with a discrete genetic cluster in the J2 haplogroup. This means that male Bracey variant name holders can investigate their connection to William Bressie by getting a haplogroup prediction based on a cheek scrape and simple 12 marker Y-DNA STR test.
I would strongly advise anyone who thinks they may be related to the Virginia Bracey lineage to join our project by ordering a 12 marker test (use the Join Request link on our webpages). Only men can take a Y-DNA test but a woman could trace her Bracey line by sponsoring a male Bracey relative to test. The more folk who participate the more we all can learn.

Kind regards to all
