Our paternal family name is derived from Tissot - we use an anglicized version of it, Tissott. The latest I can trace us back is to a Joseph Tissott who may have been born in New Holland, Lincs, England around 1761. This is a hamlet on the Humber Estuary that was a common port of entry from Europe at that time.

We have no idea if the family is French or French-Swiss. Tissot is a surname that obtained citizenship before 1800.

Would we be eligible to join this group? My brother's Y-DNA is R1b1a2 (R-M269) which just indicates Europe.
