I'm fair skinned with auburn hair, hazel eyes and freckles and my mtDNA haplogroup is B2. My mother has the same physical features. My grandmother and great grandmother are also light skinned, but without the freckles and auburn hair. I'm 96% European with a small percentage of Cherokee (paternal, understand I don't carry the Y chromosone) and Chickasaw (maternal). These tribes are from eastern/southeastern NC, GA, TN, MS states. I read all the threads and am feeling a bit displaced ;). I agree with you a lot more work needs to be done for Native American populations.
