I did Google the results as you suggested and this is what I found:

16189C variant is associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes in Asians.

However it did not indicate how this variant impacted my ethnic group.

As a Chicano. Do they group me as Asian because I'm mtDNA B2?

I do have type II Diabetes, as does my only sister, as did our mother and her grandfather. Her father died young so we don't know for sure if he had diabetes, or would have developed it had he lived longer.

My mother had Meniere's Disease as well. I think my sister does too.

So my family seems to bear out that hypothesis.

I am the only known member of the family to have Von Willerbrand's B.
A form of hemophilia.
I don't know if there is a connection to my mtDNA on that.
