I tried keeping excel files of all of my matches. I tried other tools. Wasted a zillion hours on all that before I discovered Genome Mate.
The best place for up to date info on Genome Mate is Facebook. The author is also very responsive to questions.
I use Ancestry, 23andMe, FTDNA, and gedmatch and manage the accounts of my parents as well. The amount of data is overwhelming. Genome Mate makes it incredibly easy to keep track of all of it and displays it in a way that allows me to figure things out fairly easily.
One thing that makes Genome Mate great is that she's built upon the tools other people have already created. I use AncestryDNAhelper, DNAgedcom and 529andYou to create some of the files for import. It couldn't be easier.
Word of warning for people new to Genome Mate. You need to use Google Chrome if you're going to cut and paste into the import function. It just doesn't work right with IE.
