2nd try -- 1st response was eaten. grr.
I have been sing it for about 2 weeks now. Loading from FTDNA was super easy. (I have more problems with getting my ICW files from DNAGedcom but that is a different story.
Loading from GedMatch triangulation was also easy. (DO NOT USE IE!) I also did is a few times, lowering the threshold to catch the lower matches. It helps.
You can load one-to-one matches individually. It is annoying. But worth it for me since lots of my matches have several segments, plus if you match on the X as well that is the only way to get the data in there.
I like being able to mark the common ancestor so that you can see the coloring on your chromosome. I do have a problem linking my uncle. I can indicate on my profile that we share my grandparents as common ancestors. On his profile I cannot show it as his parents being common ancestors. Supposedly this was fixed but I still cannot make it work.
I find it more interactive than the ADSA tool from DNAGedcom. But just as visually useful.
My main frustration does not have to deal with the program. It is more that I have too much data to coordinate between FTDNA, Ancestry and GedMatch, and a crappy internet connection that interferes with me doing anything at speed. Add in Colonial New England ancestry so I have way too many matches, and an unknown ancestral line I am trying to figure out and I am drowning. I cannot get the chrome extension for Ancestry to even work anymore (and at 5000 matches per kit at Ancestry I need something to manage it all!) Loading in gedcoms to identify common ancestors (I can have 5 or more crossings per match sometimes so which one gave me the DNA?!?!) Even if I run a match list at GedMatch I cannot copy it down easily due to all of the picture graphics (which don't even load for me anyway so I have a screen populated with little icons). I have held off sending in my 5th kit to Ancestry because I do not know how to manage what I do have.
Sorry. Just a frustration rant on my part. I do like the program. I'm hoping it can help corral my data and help me manage things.
