I also have quite a few relatively close (according to Ancestry) matches, with whom I have not yet connected. It was so amazing and overwhelming to see the DNA matches come pouring in, after so many years of trying to scale brick walls at a snail's pace, that ... I guess I just didn't think to be angry about the locked trees. I certainly did not realize that mine would be upsetting to anyone. I'd also gotten used to the system at 23andMe, which requires customers to contact one another and request sharing of data and information.

Ancestry really should provide a system through which family trees can be shared with our DNA matches, while not requiring the trees to be public. It would be great if a tree could be attached directly to the page/entry that matches see.

As far as the 'no trees' go, you should hang out at 23andMe. There, it's like a desert :)
