Some mail services are better or worse than others in receiving Ancestry emails. I find I get best results on Yahoo if they don't come to my regular email service. Sometimes, they go to spam.
Retrying is often necessary and/or trying a different email addresses. Sometimes, sending to an email that you know works - other than your regular email - then forwarding that invitation (without clicking on the link inside) to the person works.
