I have a cousin on my paternal side of the family who matches me appropriately on many Chromosomes. When I look at matches in common with her and me I get a list that includes many who match us both at the same point on various Chromosomes. I can see that they are likely to match me on my paternal line. I also have a number of matches in common with her who match her and me on different segments and/or different Chromosomes. Our common ancestor is our paternal grandfather and grandmother. My father stayed locally in the UK and his sister, my cousin's ancestor emigrated to the other side of the world. I'm thinking that the matches that we have in common but not on the same segment or even same Chromosome must also be from the paternal line. Is my thinking flawed in some way?
