I'm not sure about your case but in one of mine It's actually the grandfather of the man (from the couple) that the connection is from.

I don't actually have the people on my tree because I haven't verified the info. (it comes from a book with multiple errors).

I think what has happened is that ancestry shows shared DNA with this group and the couple is on all the other trees and therefore Ancestry lists them as the possible shared connection. (not all of their trees go back to the Grandfather). They list both people from the couple since the others in the group descend from both and it's impossible to determine which one the shared DNA is from.

I look at the new circles as nothing more than a clue to the actual shared ancestry.
If the couple doesn't "fit" in your tree, you need to look at their ancestors/siblings/relatives to see if the connection is someplace else and/or at a much earlier time/generation.

so, it seems as if the new circles are nothing more than a way for Ancestry to show a group of people that you share DNA with (not sure if the shared DNA is in the same location) and then they look at every ones trees to see if there is any common people. If there is, they list them as the possible connection. It doesn't mean that that IS the connection, just that it MAY be. (they need to be clearer on this because it's causing a lot of confusion)
