What it means is the amount of DNA that you & your match share is roughly equal to about four generations more or less. If there are many cousin marriages in an endogamous population, it is very possible that the MRCA(s) will be even further back for the amount of DNA shared. 4 generations would be a good place to start looking for common ancestors, but be open to other possibilities.
