Once you do upload your data to FTDNA and/or GedMatch there are a number of tools and websites that can also help you:
www.DNAGedCom.com: has various tools associated with FTDNA and 23&Me files. THis site was developed by people working with adoptees, but the tools and methods also work for us non-adoptees as well.
www.GenomeMate.org: this is a program that can allow you to collate your data from all the various testing sites. Better than spreadsheets in my opinion. Allows you to mark out segments to MRCAs (Most Recent Common Ancestors) and as well as provide space for research notes, ICW (in Common With) information, surnames of interest, etc etc etc.
Also, I would recommend reading/following genealogy bloggers who write about DNA. Their posts will help you learn and understand a lot of the terms, acronyms, and research methods you will need to delve deeper into genetic genealogy. The ones I follow are:
