"I am not bashing trees here. I am saying the tools or processes ancestry provided for people to use with their trees had some issues that frequently reappear. There have been ongoing issues with the relationship calculator providing odd relationships, including relationships to spouses of ancestors rather than the ancestor."
I'm sorry I *will* bash trees. There's only so much an automated tool can do when consolidating data from multiple sources. Genealogy takes work and a real person to manually decide what is accurate to store or not.
Could ancestry offer better tools to make it less work for the user, sure, but let's not pretend that naturally the work shouldn't already lie with the user. If you were using any other software you wouldn't get the full features of the hints and tree merging system you get here at all, so let's not pretend Ancestry is buggering up something easily solved.
As far as relationship calculation, I'll agree with that one, it's fairly easy to see what's going on though, there algorithm simply doesn't value blood relation over the intermarried ones some times, I'm guessing it's weighted to choose the shortest path or the first path etc... Should be an easy fix long ago... but anything else is a lot more complex than people think.
