I think you are being too kind. This is junk science compounded by too many inaccurate trees. Read what is being said on genetic genealogy blogs such as DNA-explained. The number of inaccurate "matches" is way to high to blame on NPEs or innocent errors by Ancestry.
Sorry, if you watch Ancestry's video and read their press release, you would think this was the answer to everyone's family tree problems. Instead we have the matching of auxiliary lines (no shared DNA) and lines who happened to live in the same county with no reason to think they are related. And worse. No reason to think these "matches" are being triangulated at all. And people are being forced to buy a subscription to view inaccurate information. This is bordering on fraud. I would hope someone living in Utah would make the Division of Consumer Protection aware of this soon.
