This is very interesting. I looked at my next best 3rd cousin match with a shared 60cM's and it looked to me like a huge drop off. So that is why I wondered if this was unusual.
When you look at the chromosome bar, it is a busy picture.

This second cousin was much closer to this side of the
family than I was so she knows a lot more.
This shared great grandmother was a surrogate mother to this second cousins mother and her siblings when their real mother died young in childbirth.
This rumor of being cousins has really been eating away at her . She is the one that prompted all this DNA testing.
My ancestors lived in these communities in eastern Europe where they pretty much stuck to their own kind (German Lutheran) and they lived in the same areas as the Ashkenazi Jews. Based on some new information I received as a result
of my ancestry DNA, I suspect they were married in the Warsaw, Poland area. (Her brother's first child was born there.)
