That's a great story, and not the only one I know of where some little detail of the day kept a whole family safe!
When you ask about the memorial, are you speaking of the various monuments or the memorial service held each year on the Saturday closest to the 15th? If you would like details on any of these let me know. Did you realize that since so many of the passengers were families, that quite a few of the various families were related in one way or another, Not just neighbors!
