Hi All
I have previously posted details of my interest in the Sheffield Flood (12th March 1864) and can now throw a little bit more light on the SPOONER family, after finding one of the headstones at Stannington.
Hannah Spooner died at the age of 64, along with her son Jonathan (age 40) ; Benjamin (75) who was Jonathan’s Uncle and Sarah Ann (7), Benjamin’s Grand daughter.
Other members of this family who drowned were Thomas Spooner (age 40) and his wife Selina (40) and their 7 children William (19), Frederick (15), Mary Ann (10), Thomas (8), Betty (6), Albert (4) and Henry (2) ; William WOLSTENHOLME (Selina’s father) and Caroline SELLARS (Selina’s sister) and her husband William Sellars.
Sadly I haven’t yet managed to find the connection between Hannah Spooner’s family and Thomas Spooner’s family.
I would love to hear from anyone who may be able to throw any further light on this family or from anyone who thinks they may be related.
Look forward to hearing from you and thanks in anticipation of your reply.
Best Regards
