I saw Joseph in the 1910 census and there is no indication he died in prison. Most likely his DOC card can be located. This will provide data on his physical attributes, county where he was convicted, charge (ie murder, grand larcency etc), when he was convicted, when he arrived,next of kin and when he was discharged.
