Surnames: McCabe
I am the grandaughter of Hugh McCabe RIC Serial number 63495. He was born 16th April, 1888(?) in Curcar, Carrigallean, Co. Leitrim. I'm not sure what year he joined but he was stationed in Shankhill, Co. Dublin and remained in the force until the disbandment. Towards the end he was on a board of somtnhing or other. His entire family (two daughters) are still alive the eldest will be 92 in May and the other (my mother) was 87 in February. They would dearly love to have some information regarding his records etc. I believe he came first in some examination in Ireland, England and Wales, and was offered a post somewhere in England which he turned down. He was also presented with an illuminated address for some brave act. Something to do with Wicklow. This unfortunately cannot be found and maybe isn't true. We have fantasticc photographs of him including a long photograph which has to be kept rolled outside a large building similar to that in the Phoeix Park. Please, Any information will be appreciated. Thanks Pauline (grandaughter)
