Was told when I was younger that my great grandfather Draton Alaby Smith was a Sheriff on an Indian Rez in OK. Now info has come to me that he could have been in LA or OK and had some strange nickname such as "Bad Eye" or something. I have found no records of this if anyone has any idea of how I can find out please let me know. 2 cousins have said this. Our grandmother also told us about the Sheriff on an Indian Rez in OK. My dad has a rifle that was from that time when he was to be. But the rest I'm not sure about. My Smith family is from western MS. His wife was a Rushing but I don't know if they were married at that time.

Please please help me with this if possible, I just don't know where to go. He was born 20 Mar 1881 & to my knowledge in MS but another cousin says LA that borders on the state line of MS. It's just all so confusing.
