Randy: I too had ancestor who was deported on the Justitia in January 1773. I saw your message and your reference to the Corporation of London Records Office in London so I emailed them and asked for information, etc. I got the reply promptly and they gave me information as to where I could get more information about my ancestor. He was tried at the Middlesex Sessions and records would be at the London Metropiltan Archives,. They gave me the address and email address. However, they also mentioned that a new website entitled "Old Baily Proceedings ONline" has been created for the court proceedings, etc between 1670 and 1834. The records detail soome 100,000 individual trials and represent a wealth of detail about everyday life, as well as valuable evidence of the circumstances surrounding crimes, the lives of the accused and their trials. Currently proceedings for the period December 1714-December 1759 are available at http://www.oldbaileyonline.org but eralier and later proceedings will be gradually added to the web site. According to the project timetable the proceedings for the period 1760-1799 will be added in July 2003. I visited the website and searched my ancestor just to see if they had completed 1773 info but his name didn't come up so I will check in August to see if project complete for 1760-179 period..
Thanks for posting your information as I had no clue as to where to find this information and your post gave a great starting point.
