The information I have on William Williams comes from the QLD marriage certificate of William Williams & Bridget Duffy:QLD State Archives 186/488,21 Feb. 1870. Roma QLD.
William Williams b,Hobart Town Tasmania 1846.
Father William Williams - Merchant.
Mother unknown.
Bridget Duffy - b.West Maitland NSW 1856, no birth registered.
Father - Hugh Duffy b.1796 Monaghans County , Ireland, Convict.
Mother Ellen Connolly b.1821, Kings County , Ireland, Free.
William & Bridget had 12 children,
My Grandmother was their 5th, Born in NSW,as were the siblings younger than her, The older ones were born in Roma QLD.
I did not know my Grandmother or Grandfather, they both died before I was born.
I have not been able to find the death of William, but it was after 1888, On the death certificate of Bridget it states her husband as Edward William Williams.
Bridget died in 1935 at Bellata, near Narrabri NSW.
On the death certificates of 2 of the children who both died as babies their fathers occupation is listed as labourer.
Eleanor Lavinia Williams m. Johm Frederick Tighe in Brewarrina NSW in 1897.
Eleanor & John moved to south west QLD , they had 7 children, including one set of twins. John did droving, fencing and at some time had hotels in QLD. Ellen run the pubs, At the time of his death in 1938 from pneumonia, John Tighe was working as Hotel Duties,he is buried in Charleville QLD in an unmarked grave. Ellen died 1940 in the Brisbane hospital from stomach cancer, she is buried in an unmarked grave in Toowong QLD.
I have read the story about the red headed children of a William Williams, and wondered if there was a connection.
I have 2 brothers & 2 sisters and we 5 all have one child each with reddish hair.
