Can anyone help me with this question...

My ancestor (Eliza Barrett) came here as a convict in 1833 to serve a 7 yr sentence, she married the same year,(to Thomas aka George Sherar) but in 1835 she absconded and was not returned to Australia until December 1837. In May 1838 she was sentenced to 12 months to Third Class at the Female Factory.

She did serve this time, we assume, we have not been able to find any record of her being at the factory (other than it being added to the Shipping Indent for the Fanny 2).

She was awarded a Cert of Freedom in 1842. So after she came out of the Factory she still had approx 4 yrs of her original sentence to serve.

Would she of just been returned to her husband or would she of been reassigned to someone else when she left the Factory in May 1839.

Can anyone clarify this for me.

Thank you for your time.
