Hi Kate
Did you get the email I sent to your home on 30/12?
Copied below:
Thanks for your message. Although I have been in touch with Tony Satchell and discussed Sarah Smith that was a few years ago and prior to me identifying my other miscreants. It never occured to me that some of them may be in the book once I had. If the others are in the book I would be gratefull for any info plus contacts. I must say I do have some info on all of them but every little snippet helps. A fellow Sarah Smith researcher has been in regular contact with Diane Matheson with some success.
I also read your other post re: Thomas Hayes. Have you tried looking at NSW State Records at
http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/archives/convicts_3689.asp I had a quick look and found four Thomas Hayes in the Cert of Freedom section that may fit into the time frame. Three of them arrived on ships from Ireland.
Edward arr NSW 1831 dep Cork
Blenheim arr NSW 1834 dep Cork
Westmoreland arr NSW 1838 dep Dublin
England arr NSW 1835 dep Portsmouth
I think the Edward and Blenheim are the most likely. Did you know you can order copies of their certs? Hope that helps a bit.
If you didn't well now you did and at least you have four Thomas' to start chasing.
Bob
