Hi Kellie,
Sorry i forgot to give you the details on him... i've probably confused you more with my last post...
Thomas Hayes was born anywhere between 1813 -1822 depending what record you go by. He was supposedly from Limerick, Ireland but i can remember my Grandfather telling me about a Clare County where his family was from? He married Mary Slattery on the 4th of August 1845 at St. Mary's, Sydney, New South Wales. There is no convict application to marry or anything that we have found, so if he was a convict, he would have had to be free by 1845. Mary Slattery was apparently from Limerick also. No idea how she got here, but by family records she arrived in NSW about 1841. Her fathers name was James Slattery, but i'm a bit confused on her too. Maybe she was the child of a convict? She was born Dec of 1828. I cannot find her arriving here either.
Thanks
