Hi Lisa,

Wow, great to hear from you. I agree, there are a lot of confused trees out there where people have just grabbed information without checking it throroughly first.

From the convict records I have for Joseph, it appears most likely that he hailed from the Hereford area; at least, he was tried and sentenced in the Hereford Assizes. It has been suggested (can not remember the source off the top of my head - World Tree I think) that he hailed from Eardisland when he committed his crime, however I have not found anything else to support this claim. It appears his father was also Joseph.

I have come across a couple of trees for a Joseph Stanton, but there were two Joseph's married about about the same time and with several children of the same given names. Can get rather confusing separating the

I have relied on Joseph's death certificate to identify his children.

My connection is through his son James. Interestingly this is on my mother's side, and my father's ancestors also hailed from the Hereford region. I am suspecting the two families will merge if I can follow them back another one or two generations, hence my keen interest in learning more about Joseph.

My email is rexstanton@gmail.com.

Rex
