The story I got from grandma, was that grandpa's mother was kick out of the house by her father because she was in the family way. The Hammond's came from Ohio and Tennesse they married 1890 in Tennesse moved to Utah to Wyoming to California and adopted all of their children William, Robert, Grandpa and Arabella and fostered Uncle Herman.
