Hi - Since I wrote this so many years ago - yes, I have found more info. Bronson Memorial Hospital. It was a big house essentially located about where McLendon's Hardware is today. The 'hospital' had 30-40 beds and mostly treated local miners in the Newcastle/Black Diamond area as well as lumberjacks in the area and the occasional births. My husband was born there in 1940. In 2013 we discovered through DNA testing that the people who were named on hubby's birth certificate were NOT his birthparents. Apparently what happened was a young woman (29) came to the hospital to deliver. She gave as much info as she knew about the people who would raise the baby. She unfortunately misspelled the surname. She listed her name as the middle name(which didn't match the woman who would raise the baby) and the info about the birthfather matched her divorced husband (i.e., construction worker born in No.Dak age 34, when the people who took the baby were Seattle Police Officer born in Denmark age 60). She then went home to Bellevue and literally handed husband over the fence to her next door neighbors who never divulged they weren't birth parents. In my opinion the birth mother age 29 lied to the hospital and the hospital accepted her 'info' as fact. That info goes to King Co Vital Records and they go by whatever is on the paperwork sent from the hospital. No legal adoption was ever done. Today hubby has health issues and knows nearly nothing about the history of his parents. We've met the 1/2 siblings - they've been great, accepting him as family. Birth father is more difficult but I'm narrowing in on one family. In 1989, when we first saw hubby's birth certificate the first things we notice were surname misspelling, ages didn't match, places of birth etc., didn't match those who became the parents. Another thing, at the bottom "Attendant's Own Signature" was listed as John L Carney MD. He is listed in an old Renton phone book as an "Ear, Nose & Throat specialist". Also, the "Mother's mailing address for registration notice" was "Mrs. ______ ______, Bellevue WA." How would mail be delivered even in 1940 without a house # and street? There is one listed on the 1940 census record. At that time there were a number of homes for pregnant women, there were 'black market adoption" selling babies, and gray market which I'm told resemble this one - Hope this helps.
