The birthmother’s date of birth is given on an adoption registry as Jul 21, 1945---this is public information, so it is not confidential.
A different month appears on a family tree: 21 Jun 1945
http://webspace.webring.com/people/fu/um_4709/PageTheophilus...The discrepancy is not a big deal at this time. However, if and when the birth mother dies, her information may appear on Rootsweb’s version of the Social Security Death Index. If so---at some time in the future---an interested person might search for her entry using the wrong date of birth.
If he found the correct entry, he could add a free annotation to her record, such as a plea for contact with certain relatives. He would do this by clicking on “Add Post-em” on the right side of her entry.
In the meantime, the birth mother might want to apply for a copy of medical and admission records from the hospital in which she gave birth. Those records might contain the baby’s birth name, name of attending physician, and perhaps some indication that the hospital’s bill was paid by some adoption agency or birth father, etc.
Sometimes an agency seeks welfare payments for a birth mother leading to the possibility that a paternity action was brought in the court---to force a father to pay certain costs. This may not have occurred in the present case. A child born to a married couple is presumed to be the legitimate issue of the husband.
Good luck in your research.
