Well, Concord has a very nice archive and I have worked in it many times . The only reason a birth, marriage or death record is not there...is if the town did not send it in as they were surpose to.
According to the Court that holds the adoption record...they have to have a hearing to determen that we have a right to said record. Then we have to bring all kinds of documents to prove our relation to said person. It just isn't worth it all. I was told I had to write a letter explaining why this record is important to me.
After that, they set a hearing date to be heard in front of a judge and he decides weather to release the record or not. I do not have any thing except a marriage record on her. I can not afford the gas to drive up there for a hearing and it is not worth it right now until I get a job and get financially set again.
I have been to the town clerks offices in the area she claims to have been born but, no one can find any record of her birth to a Merrill. The only other document I have been able to find is in Concord Archives claiming she was Kattie Merrill adopted name Kattie Piper. Nothing more can be found on her. I know she is deceased but do not know when or where she died or is buried.
Thanks for the ideas though.
Best Wishes,
Angie
