I have a book published in 1975 titled, Rand McNally Yellow Guide. It says Excelsior Springs is in Clay county, Missouri and has the same zip code as Crescent Lake and Prathersville. Things may have changed since 1975.
Rootsweb’s Social Security Death Index is no longer visible for free to the public. Members of Ancestry.com may be able to see it or to see Ancestry’s equivalent. I am not a member so I cannot check to see if the “Add Post-em” feature is still alive.
The father’s full name would appear on the marriage license. If they were not divorced at the time of the mother’s death in 1993, his name might appear as informant on the mother’s death certificate or in funeral home records and cemetery records.

Today I received a query from someone whose alias begins with the letter B. It came from Ancestry.com in a format which does not permit me to click in order to respond. It lacked a true name and an e-mail address. Very mysterious.
